Nuriara sighed in exasperation, feeling foolish for losing her way in a forest she felt reasonably comfortable in. Obviously, she had made a wrong turn, or perhaps she walked in circles. Either way, she was lost.
Letting out another exasperated sigh, she leaned against the nearest tree, momentarily interested in the bioluminescent moss that engulfed half of the trunk. Her hair tangled between the bark, but for the moment, she didn't care. Barefoot, alone, and lost, she wasn't in the mood for discovering interesting sights. Barefoot (she sometimes wandered in the forest without shoes), she wriggled her toes in the grass--well, what used to be human toes. Instead, they looked pointed, and they were merging together.
"Fantastic," Nuriara rolled her eyes. "Just what I needed to finish out my lovely night."
A nasty feeling in her gut she experienced once before caught her off guard; she clutched at her stomach, soon realizing that two spindly limbs were sprouting out of her stomach. She grimaced; the last time she grew extra limbs, she was a freak-of-nature squirrel-taur.
Her transformation quickened considerably--brown, coarse hair covered her cloven-hoofed legs and she felt her spine reconfiguring to accommodate for a tauric being. Two rounded ears sprouted out from beneath her purple hair, amplifying her hearing.
She huffed in frustration, feeling clumsy on her cloven feet. They were unlike anything she had experienced before; it was similar to walking on the balls of her feet, and by no means was it easy. She carefully led herself out of the treacherously gnarled tree roots, afraid that she would break an ankle if she slipped.
By now, several fireflies danced in the warm night air, flickering on and off. For a moment, Nuriara forgot that she was lost; fireflies intrigued her since childhood. Carefully, she walked towards a firefly, extending her arm to touch the bright insect with a slender finger. It landed upon the tip of her index finger, tickling her with dainty legs.
Another firefly drifted close to Nuriara's nose, illuminating her face in a soft yellow light. It lighted on her nose; she giggled softly, wrinkling her nose at its ticklish, quick movements.
Her doe-ears picked up on a faraway mewing that she instantly recognized. Bringing her attention away from the fireflies, she brushed one off of her nose and let the other one fly away from her hand before she clumsily galloped towards her kitten's incessant mewing, which only meant one thing--home.
Lawllawllamestory. It's crap, I know.
Nuri becoming a deer taur. I thought that this really represented more of her personality than anything else; she can definitely have huge bouts of shyness. I worked for gosh knows how long on this, especially on the background. It was different, to say the least, because forest backgrounds have always intimidated me. Tried the pen tool; dunno if I like the end result.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
